Official data collection disclosure filed for Apple App Store review
The developer does not collect or link any data from this app to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. No ad networks or cross-app identifiers are included.
No personal information—including your identity, contact information, financial details, or device identifiers—is collected or tied to your identity. Squeeze requires no sign-up or accounts.
Even in an anonymized form, zero diagnostic, usage, or performance data is transmitted off your device. All compression calculations occur completely isolated within your local sandboxed hardware.
Overview & Core Philosophy
At Squeeze, your privacy is not an afterthought—it is the foundational architecture of the application.
Squeeze is designed from the ground up to operate 100% locally and offline on your device. We believe that your personal photos, family videos, and private memories should remain exclusively yours.
- We do not collect, store, transmit, or monetize your personal data.
- We do not use analytics, tracking frameworks, or advertising SDKs.
- We never upload your videos, photos, or metadata to external servers or cloud storage.
Information Handled by the App
Squeeze processes your media solely to provide its core functionality: analyzing file sizes, compressing video streams, and preserving associated metadata.
A. Media Files & Photo Library
- What is accessed: Video files, photos, file sizes, durations, codecs, resolutions, and album organization.
-
How it is processed: All media processing—including decoding, scaling, and re-encoding—is performed entirely on-device using Apple Silicon hardware acceleration (
AVFoundation,VideoToolbox, andPhotoKit). - Where it goes: Nowhere. Processed files are saved directly back to your local Apple Photos library or designated local folder. No media data ever leaves your device.
B. Metadata (Timestamps, GPS Location, and Albums)
- What is accessed: Original creation dates, camera settings, album associations, and embedded geographical coordinates (ISO 6709 GPS tags).
- Purpose: Squeeze reads this metadata for the sole purpose of copying and preserving it in the newly compressed video file, ensuring your Photos timeline, maps, and albums remain completely intact.
- Location data: Squeeze does not monitor your physical location, access real-time GPS sensors, or track your movements. It only reads existing location tags already embedded within your video files.
C. Personal Identifiers & Account Data
- Squeeze requires no user registration, accounts, passwords, or cloud logins.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, device identifiers (IDFA/IDFV), or IP address.
Device Permissions & Why They Are Needed
Squeeze requests the following system permissions, strictly to fulfill user-initiated operations:
You can review or revoke these permissions at any time via your device settings:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Squeeze
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos / Files and Folders
Tracking and Third-Party SDKs
- Zero Analytics: Squeeze contains no third-party analytics libraries (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Flurry, or Amplitude).
- Zero Advertising: Squeeze contains no advertising networks and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT): Squeeze does not request tracking authorization because it does not engage in any form of tracking or cross-site data sharing.
Swift, SwiftUI, AVFoundation, PhotoKit). There are no third-party binary frameworks or black-box tracking code compiled into the application bundle.
Local Storage & Data Retention
-
App Preferences: Squeeze stores your chosen compression presets, UI preferences, and an on-device registry of compressed asset identifiers locally using Apple’s secure sandboxed storage (
UserDefaultsand standard application container). - Complete Deletion: You can reset local data at any time through the app settings, or simply by deleting the Squeeze app from your device. Deleting the app immediately purges all local registry records and cached preferences.
- Original Videos: Squeeze never permanently erases original media without your explicit authorization. When batch deletion is selected, originals are sent to Apple’s native Recently Deleted album, where they are protected by Apple's 30-day recovery safety net.
Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Because Squeeze does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data whatsoever, it is fully compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K), and Apple’s strict guidelines for kids' privacy on the App Store. Squeeze does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK).
Compliance with Global Privacy Regulations
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU/UK)
Under the GDPR, processing of personal data must have a lawful basis. Because all processing occurs locally on your hardware under your direct instruction, and no personal data is transferred to the developer or any third party, Squeeze operates in full alignment with data minimization and privacy-by-design principles.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA)
Squeeze does not sell, share, or disclose personal information for business or commercial purposes, as defined under California law.
